A new zine: Do not park your cars here.

At the end of 2022 I spent three days in Bangkok, Thailand. We crammed as much as we could into those three days: saw a lot of incredible, beautiful things, ate delicious food and walked a long way.

As we made our way around I was fascinated by the various ways people tried to prevent cars from parking in certain spots. Broken stools, specially purchased extendable barriers, some almost sculptural constructions: these are the devices I captured throughout that brief visit.

Photograph of two objects wrapped in orange ribbon on a road with red and white striped pavement visible across the other side. The object on the left is something in a white sack and the object on the right is a white plastic bottle with curtain poles coming out of the top.

Photograph of an orange plastic traffic cone on a road with a box with 'M-150' and an image of a bottle on it, with handwriting in Thai that says 'Please don’t park your cars in front of the entrance and exit ways of the motorbike pick-up point. Thank you.'

Photograph of a broken red plastic chair that has been sprayed with gold paint, in a road with white street markings behind and red and white painted curb in the distance.

Photograph of an expandable metal barrier in red and white, blocking a space at the side of a road at night, with cars visible in the background.

I’ve made a small zine featuring some of these images, ‘Do not park your cars here’, which is available to buy from my TRIVIAL MATTER shop (for those in the UK) or on Etsy (for those beyond the UK).
